Bart Gruzalski |
Bart Gruzalski, Ph.D.,taught courses in Western philosophy and Eastern religions at Northeastern University, Boston. He voluntarily left his tenured position to help found a centre for sustainable living that would focus on the ecological, social and psychological needs of people to live more sustainably, in community, and with a shared inner practice. Bart has written a book on Buddhism, a book on the philosophy of Gandhi, and is completing the biography of Luang Por Sumedho. He has over 38 years of meditation practice, has focused for the past 28 years on mindfulness mediation, has taught meditation in a number of venues, teaches mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR), and has been a manager and co-manger as well as and resident teacher at Sunyata from 2008 through 2012. Bart is available for talks on Buddhism, Buddhist ethics, Mindfulness, Advaita Vedanta, as well as talks on utilitarian ethics, animal rights, vegetarianism, as well as talks on the ethics of Plato and the Buddha, and topics in related areas of philosophy and public policy. Bart is currently one of the two resident teachers for the Limerick Insight Meditation Centre and currently teaches a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course with his wife Marion in Limerick and in Ennis (please click tab on Stress Reduction). |

Marion Gruzalski |
After losing two daughters and a son, Marion Gruzalski founded the Hospice at the Texas Medical Center and subsequently three other hospices in the USA. Her work in hospice ended in 2007 when she left the Zen Hospice Project in San Francisco, where had been Executive Director and where she led weekly meditations and also led occasional one day retreats at Green Gulch, a Zen monastery in Marin County. Marion has practiced meditation for over 28 years, spent many monastic winter retreat periods at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery under the spiritual guidance of Ajahn Sumedho. She has co-led a weekly group in Boston, beginning in 2008 was the co-manager and resident teacher at Sunyata Retreat Centre, and currently teaches for the Limerick Insight Meditation Centre. Marion is available for public talks on meditation, grief, hospice, and interrelated aspects of all three. Along with her husband Bart, she teaches a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course in Limerick and Ennis (see the Stress Reduction tab). |
